Vag Com download question

I have a normal laptop xp, with usb slots not serial ports.

MY car:

2003, VW Passat tdi 130ps saloon.

What lead should i be getting and where from?

What software should i be downloading and from where?

Ross-tech?

You tell xp a usb is the serial port . Buy a lead from ebay , the lead comes with vagcom disc.

A cable from Ilexa or Gendan will cost about £20.00. Vag-com lite is a free download from ross-tech.com. Ebay cables are ok but if you have problems you are at the mercy of the seller.

There seem to be so many options on the Ross tech site. I dont which option is the correct on to pick.

I DO NOT have a serial Port.

I do have a USB port so my question is more to do with which out all the serveral different option is the appropriate for my situation?

Ignore the options. ross-tech no-longer sell the cable you need. If you go to Ilexa or gendan thay will sell you a usb cable for about £20. You then download vag-com lite from the ross-tech site.
