Gave the car a ruddy good clean today (approx 4 hours, not as bad as the 7 hour clean 3 weeks prior).... god knows she deserved it, hardly any reflection from the CG xxx applied 3 weeks ago and beading was so loose :( i'm not up to the standards of DW, but im getting there and this wasnt about paint correction, more preservation ;)

Befores(sorry for the lack of befores it was getting late and i had to get on :p)

<shocked face> check out how filthy that boot is.... *mental note* dont leave car where 7 year old sister in laws can write their name in your filth

the filthiest wheel i have ever seen, excuse the absence of VW sticker... some little chav pinched it

i spend a lot of time on detailing world, reading up, my head hurts with all the info over there.

the one thing i am having trouble with, is my headlight lenses (glass) they seem to be 'spotted', not crystal clear like they once were.... any suggestions on how to get these clean? or is this just something that happens over time

I think they get pitted with stone chips and the only answer is new lights !

its not that.... its quite hard to explain, in fact im not entirely sure its on the outside of the lense. its kinda like if you dont clean a window for ages and ages and it gets slightly dis-colored in places?

generally speaking i would use my pc with a little super resin polish as it is only mildly abbrasive and wont scratch the lense but you could try by hand, failing that use meguires glass cleaner neat with a terry toweland really give it some :D and yes DW is a very good place for getting the low down on whats what. next time your on there look my name up and see what you think of my details (my name is the same as on this forum) hope i have helped

I know exactly what you mean now, it's like a 'haze' on the inside.

The problem with the Golf lights is that you can't get in them... I had one or two dead flies in mine as well until I blew them out with an airline.

The only way I can think is to remove them from the car, remove all the bulbs and the level motors then wash them out with some soapy water and carefully rinse finishing off the final few rinses with distilled water so as to not leave any residue.

baby has been well overdue for a clean for a few weeks now.... beading was poor, hardly any reflection the shine had dissapeared and the tyres had turned brown..... method used :
Wash using 2 bucket method, wash mitt and AG body conditioning shampoo
rinse using hosepipe and water (lol)
dry
applied AG SRP using Meg's sponge applicator, buffed with M/F cloth
applied AG EGP using Meg's sponge applicator. This confused me a bit and taught me a lesson.... READ THE INFO.... its a liquid, smells like petrol, the idea is you apply a very thin, even layer of it, let it dry for 30/60 mins ( i did about 40) and then buff off lightly with a m/f. this is what gives the 'clinical' shine to the car.
Applied CG XXX hardcore wax using Meg's sponge applicator, left for around 5 mins then buffed with a M/F clothfor the tyres i used AG instant tyre dressing and the windows, AG Fast glass....see what you think ;)

meguiars! it was during one of my many trips to ********* whilst the 3 for 2 was on, £4 for 2 pads, which isnt a bad price anyway, but when they're free its even better ;)

hard wax??

the only things i used were :

AG Super Resin Polish
AG Extra gloss protection.

SRP was applied, left for 5 mins, buffed off, EGP was applied, left for around 30/40 mins, then buffed off, topped off with an application of CG XXX wax :beerchug:

Hello mate i have not personally used it but if i did with it being a sealant i would apply a layer to the whole vehicle leave for 20 minutes to cure then buff off let the car stand for half hour and do the first step again.
The most important thing to remember when using a sealant be it AG, Megs or any other is to leave it on for a while for it to cure and bond to the cars paint work
Hope this has helped

Glad it helped mate :D Also for the ultimate finish without the need for a wax use chemical guys jetseal you wont believe your eyes and it will last at least 6 months per application :D

Do you all rate the AG sealer ?

I love the SRP having been away using the megs stuff for a few years which by the way seems to last only a few weeks.

Now though I'm into Collinite wax. Nothing else like it in my opinion, you might get a better shine but nothing lasts or beads as well as the Collinite.

i do rate autoglym radiant wax to start then super resin then liquid hard wax and wow the dirt just wont stick to you car like in the rain all the splash marks up the doors.
it just dont stick and it lasts on mine for around a month

have a look in the boot under the carpet and this will tell you if the car is a 150 or 130nbhp
its a white sticker

Just looked under carpet and there are 2 stickers.
One is stuck to the carpet and one is on the bodywork.

The one on the bodywork has loads of blocked numbers on it,and
the other seems to tell when the car was made.
Not sure where to find the BHP m8.
Sorry to be a pain but any idea which one it is, and where on the sticker does it tell you?

Cheers m8
