Hello

I bought a Leon 1.9tdi - 56 plate reference model, pretty basic but nice. It has 90,000 but FSH... Any one know exactly what's covered when the service manual has 'service inspection' checked, dated and stamped?... this happened at least every 10k - but doesnt illustrate the work covered....

Basically, I'm not sure if i need to get a cambelt change or not...:confused:? - it had a 'ribbed belt' change on 10k is that the same:confused:? (pardon ignorance)!!!

Cheers :beerchug:

An inspection service is usually just an oil and filter change, as well as an inspection of the car for defects or wear. A major service is all filters (air, pollen, fuel, oil) plus oil.

The cambelt is usually referred to as the toothed belt, not the ribbed belt, which is usually the auxiliary belt.

The general rule for timing belt changes is every 60k or 4 years whichever comes first, so the belt is overdue replacement.

Hope this helps,
Paul
