Vag com and convenience module

Not sure if I have a fault with my convenience module, but I do not seem to be able to get into the adaptions part, only can see how many keys I have assigned. The other areas where you can add things like beep when locking etc are in red and dont seem to be available, unless I am doing something stupidly wrong.
Would I need to login to do this? and if so how do I get my SKC?
By the way, I have a 1997 B5 and a full version of Vagcom (not shareware, but the cablefrom Rosstech).
