Tow bar electrics 7 way bypass relay

Hi there I am new to this web site and I thank you all in anticipation of a little help.

My A4 2005 1.9 Tdi saloon B7 I believe is the full title. I have fitted the tow bar easy peasy that was but the electrics are a bit puzzling.
I have followed the instructions as best I can however the lights on the trailor dont seem to function at all.
Power is to the bypass relay as is the earth.
The CANBUS signals from the cars lights are wired in but still I get nothing out of the relays.
Has anyone done this before and if so any advice on testing installation would be helpful.

do u get anything out of the relays if u just touch a flylead positive wire onto terminals 124567 of the relay? is the earth to the white wire good? check it with the multimeter on volts scale

I,ve fitted 3 of these relays without issue. 2 of these feature in how to guides, one in vw and one in Audi.
