Special sealant for sump?

Hi all,

I'm soon to be changing the timing chain on my son's (AZQ) 1.2 Ibiza Mk4 (52 reg) and have been told that I need to purchase some "special sealant for the sump" whilst replacing the various guide channels, chain and tensioner.

My question is, is this really necessary?

i think regular silicon instant gasket will do.
