'94 polo suspension

Hi, my mk4 polo MOT is due soon and I noticed the nearside front shock absorber is seeping. Is this a MOT failure?
With it being an old car I don't want to spend too much on it adn my question is, can the whole strut be replaced (with one from a scraper) as I dont have the tools just to do the damper, or do both shocks have to be replaced at the same time?

yes it is a MOT failure. there not too hard 2 replace if u have a haynes manual that should help you. yer try and get the shocks from a scrapyard but check that there not leaking might be lucky and find a new 1 one on the car. forgot to say u sud change both shockers
