Hi all,
For anyone with the above problem, please see this thread http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=92067 for a successful case of getting rid of gearbox notchiness affecting all gears and the infamous 1st to 2nd shifting problem. After reading suggestions of bad clutch, bad DMF, or bad Gearbox, in the end the fix was a lot cheaper than all the above....a simple oil change to Redline MTL
