I have a A4 2.5TDi QS, 04plate and have been told that I require a new Drivers seat airbag. I have seen a few on ebay but they have different codes but are both the B6 model. Could anyone tell me which code I require for a replacement.

Parts Codes; 8E0 880 242 D 6PS

and
8E0 880 242 G

8E0 880 242 E

They are all for B6, drivers seat airbags. I have the sport leather/alcantara seats.

Cheers
L

Who and why were you told you need a new drivers seat airbag ??

The local Audi specialist said it was knackered. He had tried the connections but still no joy. He said that if I got one cheap somewhere he'd stick it in for me instead of paying Audi 300 odd squid. How, what are you thinking?

I am no technician, but I cant see the airbag suddenly breaking on its own

Do you know the code that diagnostics came back with ?? probably 00588

99/100 of the driver (side of seat airbag) faults I have seen on forums are because the connector and wires under your seat has been stretched with moving your seat back and forward over a prolonged period and has broken it

*** this is from a quick search on another audi website ***

Okay, listen to me, and listen well because this IS the solution to the problem and it costs NOTHING to do!!Remove the drivers seat from the vehicle after disconnecting the battery of course.
Under the seat attached to the frame of the seat you will likely find a yellow connector with three wires going into each side of it. Don't be afraid of what i'm about to say. Cut out that connector and splice in three wires in its place about 3 inches long. Make sure when you cut out the connector you leave a little bit of wire in it so you can see what wire matches up with it's partner.
Before you join the ends of the replacement wires together, be sure to twist them around each other (I don't mean twist the exposed wire, rather twist the 3 wires around each other) and then join the wires to their partner wire.
Clear the Airbag code and problem solved.
