Fault code 18047 Passat tdi

Hi i have Passat tdi 115bhp 2000 model it goes to limp mode usually on motorway,Revs drop to 1200 revs, if i turn off and restart fault clears. I have put my scanner on and its come back with 18047 fault code , which is accelerator pedal position sensor! So do i replace the sensor on the pedal or is it something else causing the fault? Any info please as its doing my head in:aargh4:

you need to check voltages at pedal
i must admit the last one i done was due to water ingress into pedal and connections
