I am thinking of purchasing a VRS TDI PD, are there any common issues with them that i need to look out for?
I have been told that the injectors can pose a problem usually around 80k.

the injectors rarely break. what happens is the wiring harness breaks down, and gives a fault relating to number 1 injector. so in goes another injector, and its fine for a while. those who know just fit a new harness (about £60 from vag) and solve the problem full stop. other than that, cracking little cars, very underrated. people still dont like skodas though, so dont buy them. those that know buy them though.

is there any else I should be on look out for before making a purchase of one?

just check the service history and make sure its had a cambelt if over 60k or 5 years. sure things do go wrong, but they are a polo underneath, but i think the build quality is better than vw.

isn't it a mk5 golf chassis and running gear underneath?

I thought it was Golf 4/5 chassisand running gear. In essence it's a Golf with a stretched boot and better, sensible packaging.

The Polo underpins the Fabia

I think im right in saying the MK1 Octavia(Pre05 plate) is on MK4 Golf Chassis and the MK2 Octavia(05 to date) is on MK5 Golf Chassis.
But yes like a golf with a bigger boot! like the Bora is just a MK4 Golf with a boot an different shell!

Yeah, the Octavia II is on the Golf V platform.

Though at the beginning of the thread I thought you were talking Fabias, which are on the Polo platform.

Then I realised what section this is in. :Blush2:

teach me to read things properly :1zhelp: . i thought he was on about a fabia all along. sorry for causing confusion. anyway, the octavia is still an excellent car, but not as nippy as a fabia vrs.
