Hi,

Just joined today as I'm about to order the above S-Line Spec Edn 2.0 Tdi 143.

List price with my extras is £30470 and I've been offered a discount of £2500 after a fair bit of negotiating.

Have I got a good deal or should I push them a little harder?

Anyone got an S-Line Special Edition, more specifically pictures of one with the 19" wheels as the Audi web site doesn't seem to.

Hi,

Can you please clarify "special edition"? Is it just the SE? Or Exec? Or something else???

Cheers

S-Line Spec with 19" 255/35 tyres and B&O HiFi. Extras are pearl paint, advanced key, AMI, Interior light pack & folding mirrors

I'd be looking for over £3k to call it a really good deal. Your £2.5k is not bad but 11% (£3350 in your case) is often attained.

Push for £3k or pay the same amount and tell them to add another £500 of options ;)

Thanks for this advice, just used it to convince myself to call another local dealer and he has offered 2% better than Glasgow so I'm now gettng over 10%.

It never hurts to ask :D

Another way to get a good deal is to look for a pre registerred model with all the toys fitted? I got a 43K list priced car for 28k with only 50 miles on the clock :-)

Placed my order yesterday:-

A4 2.0 TDI 143 S Line Special Edition
Tyre Pressure Monitor
Pearl Aruba Blue
Advanced key
Interior Light Pack
High Beam Assist
Folding Mirrors
Parking system plus
AMI

All for an OTR price of £27885

I know I might have got a better deal or a cheaper pre-reg but I'm happy as this is to my spec from a local dealer and at 10% it's a better discount than I initially set out for.

Thanks for your input, just got to be really patient now!!!

Special ed includes the 19in alloys. B&O Dab radio. Cruise, but I think that may have featured on the exec. I think that is it.

Good choice ;)

I notice you have the electric folding mirrors, do they fold automatically when you lock the car?

I have also seen on my configuration that the screen is listed as a monochrome 6.5" monitor, is this 'Audi' monochome with the colour/orange menus or true monocrome ie. purely greyscale r b/w?

Also wondering if I should have gone for the 170PS instead of the143 :(

How do you find the lowered suspension, does the 30mm drop make a noticeable visual difference and is the ride not too hard with the stiffer springs?

I was talked out of this no cost option as I will have the 19" 255/35 tyres

I have the folding Mirrors, and Yes they fold in once you lock the car, and don't open again until you turn on the ingition or start the engine.

Thanks Paul.

I had read on another thread that someone was trying to re-code the car so that they closed on locking and not by a switch but it was obviously an older model.

Just called the dealer and changed to the 170PS variant from the 143PS and added the S-Line Sports Suspension.

Hope I've made the right decision?

I've put the brochure away now or I might decide to add something else!!

You can't have the S-line suspension with 19" wheels !

The salesman did mention that this used to be the case but the online configuraton tool allowed it and the order went through OK.

Any idea why this was? Is it wheel arch clearance/ride heght or just ride comfort?

Want to take a fiver bet whether you get it or not? ;)

It may have changed but I doubt it. Quoting a sales guy and the configurator are probably the two things that won't convince me :D

:biglaugh: I know what you mean.

I did talk it over with the sales guy and he said they never used to allow both together but he seems to believe they do now.

I'll wait and see, not too bothered as I changed my mind about the suspension a few times so it'll be nice surprise.

Do you know why they don't/didn't allow both?

The theory was rubbing issues when driven hard. Bear in mind it's not just that 19's are bigger as the diameter of the tyre should be the same/similar. 19's are also wider and that could be the issue.

To be honest, I think it's brave even trying to go for 19's and S-line as it would be pretty firm.

You can change the settings to suit yourself via the system settings. I have mine folding on locking and popping out when the ignition is on.

Me too. It means when I need to get to things in the garage the mirrors already out of the way. :D

An update on the -30mm S-Line suspension and 19" wheels.

I asked for my order to be checked with the factory and I was sent the 'Dialog' order sheet listing the suspension as one of the options.

I have been assured that since build week 22 it is now OK to have the -30mm and 19" wheels.

A point of some discussion in the forums recently but just thought this news might enable any potential buyers to at least enquire about this combination.

Did someone mention build weeks... I now have one :beerchug:

Week 28 so it will be a MY2011, just as well as I,m not sure I would have taken it if it didn't have that acoustic windscreen :D

Any ideas how long I can expect to wait from my build week? Also dealer said week 28 was 12th July, I make it 5th July, do Audi count the weeks differently too:confused:

Must be Microsoft that counts differently then as Outlook has 5 July labelled as week 28.

Ah well, it was wishful thinking and anyway, what's another week

This gives me a problem now because the MOT and Tax run out on my current car on the 31st July so if the new one isn't here by then I'm going to have to try and convince them to let me trade it in early.

Well the odds are stacking further in my favour but I'm not spending it until I see the PR codes on the label. ;)

Have a look here and just tailor the search filters to suit.

I know I can't bend time and it will arrive when it arrives but when would you expect to collect with a week 28 build (dealer and transit issues aside)

Interesting thread...
I ordered my Sp Ed at the beginning of April and had a build week of week 26 (w/c 28/06/10). I found out last Friday afternoon that the car had "finished production", further still I should see it sometime w/c 12/07/10.

On another related note, I too ordered the 30mm over the 20mm and it has apparently gone through, I'm not fussed either way if it appears or not due to comfort over looks and knowing it's there... I'll let you know if the code appears on the label sometime next week.

Thanks for the info, most of your dates fall into line with mine except they reckoned a delivery 4 weeks after build. Shipped to Tyne port for delivery to Stirling.

Given this would mean a collection around the 12th Aug I've decided to wait untl 1st Sep for a 60 plate.

I bet you can't wait and the last few days will drag, you've got to post some pics, especially if it's got 1BZ in the service book, there's a beer or two riding on this.:beerchug:
Enjoy your new wheels.

Yes, I'll get some pics up, let you know if the code appears.

And yes I can't wait now, I was told when I put down the deposit that there was a 10 week lead time as the dealership had a slot. Yeah right!
