can I fit a towbar to my 2001 Golof cabrio?

Everyone i ask says that this cannot be done but i've seen mk3 cabrios with them. Is there a reason why i cannot fit one of these? Does anyone know of anyone that could supply and fit one?

Unfortunately your vehicle is not homologated for towing, that doesn't mean that you can't tow, but your vehicle has never been approved for towing thus a bar hasn't been manufactured for your vehicle.

You will be hard pressed to find someone that will fit a towbar for you due to the legal ramifications but if you are that intent on doing it then it is possible, you just have to consider the consequences of doing it, I imagine that there would be some sort of fine possibly points on your licence. You might also want to consider other road users and the risk of causing an accident/injury/death.

To sum up though, it's possible but I don't recommend it.
