I had my A6 2.5tdi repaired, it was a new fuel pump that was fitted, it ran from the garage to my home, approximately 20 miles, the following day it would not start, it seemed that the starter motor was not engaging, unfortunately it was engaging and it turns out the engine has no compression.

This sounds expensive to me, does anybody think the new cam belt could have slipped and allowed the valves to hit the pistons (there was no bang) slipped off or broken?

When you say "fuel pump" do you mean the injection pump ?
The injection pump is driven from the cambelt so whoever replaced that may have screwed up.

Open the cambelt cover to see if the belt is still intact.

yes it was the injection pump, I can't check the cam belt cover as the guy who carried out the repair has got the car at the moment.
