Cordoba TDI console problem HELP!!!

Hi All :beerchug: I am a new owner of a 2000 Cordoba 1.9Tdi, I have a center console problem the LCD works as does the dial for the fan Both dim and light up fine however the res of the lights don't. The fan speed control lights come on but when I try to brighten them they go off, or they flicker when left alone, the rest of the lights do not work at all on the console but they do quickly flicker when I start the car and go off :( Any thoughts out there? Ihave seen other smilar entries on this forum but no one answers there must be someone who has had or fixed a problem like this so go on answers please..... you know you want to.

New update I have tried replacing both the dimmer switch and the pod unit and still have the same problem.
