Noticed all the ash today, and given it's SO2 and acidic not good mix with wax, gave it wash, only got through first of four layers.

Wondering if all this Mad Volcanic Ash good for my DPF, and what measures can be taken to prevent damage to catalyst. Is there anything I can spray on air filter that will soak up the SO2?

Will have to get the old PD out tomorrow if Mad Ash Clouds come back me finks.

It won’t get through the air filter…

And even if it got through the air filter I would be more worried about what it was doing to my engine. The turbo’s turbine wheel and DPF surface don’t get hot enough to turn the silica into glass as it would on the turbine blades of a jet engine.

With moist atmospheric conditions then would expect SO2 to react with water and give sulphuric acid, which is going to eat exposed oil - early change of oil and filters just in case though most of that not exposed.

Extra blobs of greece on rotors on old burds all round.
