I have an 86 100 Avant (with an 85 100 Avant donor car also an 95 A6 avant 2.8q) as my daily driver which fine and dandy, however I have found a promising looking 200 that needs a bit of work. The extra power tempts me greatly.
What I am wondering is the degree of interchangeability between the 100 and 200.

The bodies look approx the same but I know hat the lights are different for example. Is that just a question of swapping the units?

I am not fussy about whether or not I end up with a 150. The important thing is to maximise the use of the vehicle.

Give me the benefit of your expertise

As I understand it, the 100 and 200 are based on the same chassis (as is the V8). What you might find to be a sticking point is that the quattro model may have a very different rear floorplan to accomodate a rear subframe.

Forgot to mention that the 100 is a Quattro (useful to know). The 200 in question is looking unlikely now however it would be good to know for future reference.

i am most interested in knowing about shared components in suspension ( I think that the rose joints will probably be the same) transmission brakes and steering.

Thanks for help.
