 Hi, I have just bought a Sharan 1.9 TDI Carat on a 52 plate and when I started it this morning there were plumes of blue smoke coming from a small pipe under the front passenger side, the day before this happened I was advised by a Halfords technician to add Redex diesel additive to the fuel system to clean the injectors which I did at the recommended dose level, has anyone else had this problem when adding Redex.....

Your auxilliary heater needs servicing, probably a new glow plug...Take it to a good diesel specialist and buy the right part from the dealer as they are fairly cheap- common failure. Dont service the unit at the dealer as it will cost an arm and an leg, possibly replacement unit .
