Hi everyone,

Sorry for the first post being a 'help' question:Blush2:

I bought a Vw sharan today:D p-reg (97)

When braking and turning the steering gets heavy and starts to judder. I have checked the power steering fluid and its fine.
Does this mean my pump is fubard?

Also...

The central locking dosnt work, you turn the key and the motor sounds for the tailgate lock but the rest of the doors dont lock:1zhelp:

Is it a comon fault?

easy fix or not?

Any help is appreciated.:beerchug:

Mine was like that for months - worse in the wet. The drive belt was slack and someone had previously tried to operate the rack and pinion adjuster without slackening off the retaining bolt or the other bolts, damaging the pinion in the process.

So check the belt; it should have teeth and if they are worn it might need replacement but most likely you just need to tighten the belt.

If you need more directions, just ask, but as this is an old post you may have fixed it by now.

Door locks- they do go ape. On my 97 CL its the driver side rear door that won't lock; I have to lock with the key and then open the door and push the lever in on the OSR door manually.
