just thought i would put up a picture of my boot build.
there are 2 12" audibahn subs running 375 rms each by the amp i put in
8357
lovely sound bit quiet though considering the metal bulkhead boot but when you open the boot its POWERFUL

Can you run a sub and amp off of the factory stereo?

yeh you just need to get some low pass filters and you can cut straight in to the original wiring. Simples Eeek

Anymore info on this as its something i'm keen to do!

Are you running yours off of the factory stereo?

yeh its the factory stereo just had to run the power wire from the battery all the way down the car aswell as the remote wire.
then from the back speakers you use a low pass filter before it reaches the built in amp (if your car has one)
plug all your **** into the amp and bobs your uncle!

the only problem i find is that the air movement is nothing compared to what it was in my old car (c2) as the audi has a metal bulkhead.
but the quality will be soooo much better with an avant!!

yeh i know exactly what your saying you could take out the original sub thats on the rear parcel shelf would act as a port for the boot= more air movement.
i thought about it but dint wana do it as could make it hard to sell!
but very good idea if you want more bass in the car

a high low filter.
heres how to do it http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page=webcontent/pages/stereo.html

with A high low filter you can take a feed direct from the wires going into the
standard rear sub speaker.

oh and just google "line out converter" to find the parts you need
