Camber Specifications

Would any one happen to have the wheel alignment specifications for A6 1.9tdi 1998, particularly the camber ?

Also is this possilbe to be done by a DIYer ?

Whilst you could do this yourself you will need laser alignment gear on both side of the car at the same time. However camber can not be adjusted only the balance between the two sides. An accident damaged alignment is completely different.

What running gear have you got

Front axle. Running gear (1BA, 1BH, 1BP, 1BC) Look on your ID plate in the spare wheel well.

I have 1BA running gear multi link suspension.

I contacted a few Audi dealers in the hope of getting the correct specifications, but they all refused to do so. I found out that 3rd party garages use https://erwin.audi.com/erwin/showHome.do;jsessionid=FBAF08C78FCB42774F8B50681EE EF2DB.ASTPVWE1

to find out such info but you have to register for this service.

I managed to obtain a spec from a wheel alignment centre in the end.
However I would still like to compare them against Audi's own figures as The wheel alignment garage said that my camber was ok, but my tracking was out, this was after I convinced them they were usng the wrong vechile data the first time which showed my camber was out.
I still don't think I'm any closer to what the problem is.
The wear on the tyre is indicating positive camber wear on the N/S and slightly less on the O/S.

I'm thinking maybe its the control arms or something bent which could be causing the wear on the tyres.

If the car was toeing in too much and due to islands and taking right hand bends faster then you do tend to get nor N/s outer edge wear then O/S wear. But both tyyes having outer edge wear is a sure sign of toe in. Regards Peter

I would not recommend taking it to a place in Mannings Heath, I was advised to take a Garage in East Grinstead, I can't remember the name but I think its called East Grinstead Tyre Service Ltd, best to give them a call be going.
