1.8 20v won't start

in need of desperate help my toledo (agn engine) won't start. replaced timing belt and water pump and battery all went fine car was running fine after apart from hazards flashing and remote locking not working so reprogrammed key next day car wouldn't start after further investigation there is no spark o fuel. anyone got any ideas

Possibily the engine speed sensor,but you really need a fault code read

tried connecting bosch kts200 diagnostic today. unfortunatley it won't connect to the ecu. so can't access fault memory

Check fuses 10 and 29 and if you have an after market radio,removed the contact.

both fuses ok and standard stereo

Then you need first to try with a different diagnostic tool

tried a mac and snap on diag tools still not reading

,can you try the dignostic tool on another vehicle?before going any further

work fine on other vehicles

Then the next step is to see if there is power to the ECU

10 volts to pin 7 on diag plug

Iam not talking about the diagnostic port,but the engine control unit

wots the best way to check that?

remove the 80pin connector on the ECU and check for ignition power on terminal 1 and battery power on terminal 3

both have power

Check then the earth wire,and it's not looking good for you matey

Earth point, in plenum chamber, centre

earth strap seems to be ok

can you enter the other control units with the diagnostic tool you are using

the car wont let me acces anything via obd plug. ecu appears to be working as i am getting a signal to other components i.e crank sensor from ecu
