Exterior door handle painted covers

I have a 2000my A4 & would like to remove the door handles for repainting - just the covers - How on earth do they come off they seem to have to locating tags at the lower end of the handle but I'm damned if I can see how to remove them.....it's driving me bloody crazy! So help please guys!

the metal painted part is bonded to inner part
you have to remove complete unit from inside, theres a clip on rear that slides to allow removal
