Yesterday - I accidently filled my diesel audi 80 tdi up with £20's worth of petrol having only a quarter of a tank of diesel in it - effectively I have .25 of it diesel and .75 petrol in the tank.

I drove the car for about a mile before it stopped dead and will not start.

Is there any way I can drain the tank myself - I tried to do it last night but there is an anti syphon mechanism in the filler (is this true).

The car is a 1994 L reg audi 80 tdi.

HELP !!!!!:zx11:

Under the back seat is probably a round metal cover. If you can remove it carefully you should have access to the tank. Be extremely careful, petrol is of course highly flammable. You will also have to purge the fuel lines and should change the fuel filter too.

If you whip out your pocket translator ;-))) ... there is this:
http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/2726855628/ref=olp_product_details/402-9740906-8606516?ie=UTF8&seller=
Covers both petrol and diesel engines ... but I don't think the 1.6 model.

I've never seen a car which has a drainage plug on the tank.

I put 10 litres of unleaded petrol into my 2005 Passat which had just under a quarter of a tank of derv left, realised my mistake and filled it to the brim with derv, car has been fine except one almost non start two days later, have topped it up twice at three quarters full but car is running fine after 450miles. PHEW!!!!!
