Brake Calipers

having had to replace the rear brake pads on my 02 1.9 TDi sharan I proceeded to move the calipers back to enable the pads to come out and the calipers were stuck fast, tried alsorts of methods from a G clamp to kicking hell out of them, eventually managed to get the pads out. is this normal for the calipers to be so difficult being pushed back in, as the front ones were very easy? Should i just replace them or is there anything I can do to remedy this issue? Cheers:confused:

you may have to replace them now, as you need to use a windback tool to retract them. this pushes and turns them at the same time. too much force just pushing them and you can destroy the hand brake mechanism.

Thanks Zollaf, just improvised a windback tool and hey presto! complete doddle thereafter so much appreciated top man !!
