Friend has just taken delivery of as new Q5 but car does not have the basic bluetooth interface fitted. Dealer has told him that this can only be fitted when car is being built in the factory. Does anyone know if this is correct as I thought he would be able to get this fitted by an Audi dealer.

It's not an offical Audi retrofit so a dealer will not do it.

It can be done though.

Stoke Audi arranged this for Mrs F's new TT as the car had already been built but did not have Bluetooth. As Issac says, it's not an official Audi retrofit, so they brought in CraigyB from TCL Satnav to do the job.

If your friend's dealer will not play ball, point him towards Craig at TCL, or Ben at Shark Performance (or even A8 Tech from this forum).

Best regards,

MF.

The problem is that anything that is retro fitted should be SVM'd back to the factory to up-date the info that the factory holds for each vehicle, this includes hardware & software levels of all control units fitted to the vehicle. If it isn't an official Audi approved retro fit then there won't be a SVM code, therefore the info isn't up-dated, so when the vehicle goes into any dealer the "specific/actual" comparison that is carried out as part of the "Guided fault finding" will always throw up the fact that a non original control unit is fitted!

This goes for any "late" type Audi ie new A4, A5, Q5, earlier stuff can be "re-coded" if the fitting technician knows what he's doing.
