I have a '99 Audi A3 1.8T sport with 2 faults which may be linked?
The first is an intermittent cooling fan problem. The radiator fan will switch on/off with air con is off. With air con on, fan does not run.
The problem occurs from cold or with engine warm. Engine sits at 90° when warm. The headlights and instruments dim slightly too!
I could cancel it by turning the air con on for a few minutes, then switching off and it would be back to normal. This no longer works.
The second fault is the air con; it doesn't get cold.
I test on gas level indicated pressure is OK. Enough gas?
How can I check coolant pipes for frosting so I can eliminate need to re-gass or a faulty compressor pump, etc?
Climate control fault code indicates possible:
“Temperature Regulator Flap Motor Potentiometer, sporadic open”
& ”Air Flow Flap, sporadic block”.
Where are the Temperature Regulator & Air Flow Flaps?
As I say, don't know if problem's are linked - can anyone advise ?
Thanks, kog
