Diesel tank capacity

Picked up my b7 3.0 quattro today and filled what i thought the tank capacity would hold, it certainly struggled to fill anymore during the last 2 litres.

To my surprise the guage only recorded it as being 3/4 full, the tank was empty to start with, light on, but took over 43 litres.

I'm sure it would take a significant time to fill any more with the danger of over-spill.

Would this be regarded as normal on a4 b7 models.

I am pretty sure that the A4 TDI holds 70 litres (at least I remember reading that somewhere for my car 2.0 TDI 140)

The tank on quattro models is smaller.Around 63 litres.

I`m sure 2wd is 68 litres, so 43 lts sounds close enuf to me for 3/4 tank.

Seems likely the pump i used up the west midlands may have been slightly faulty,

I have since filled up at my local, which took it to max.
