A3 1.8T Sport 1998 Starting issues

HI,
After stalling my A3, it wouldnt start. I turn the key for ignition, display panel lights up, no warning lights present, and nothing happens. however i push-start it then engine starts ok. any idea's what the stall could've done? anything to do with the start-motor?. (battery seems ok)

Either the starter, the ignition switch or a wiring fault to the starter solenoid. I would start by checking the charge of the battery properly and if it was OK, I would drop a wire from the starter to the solenoid terminal 50 where the red/black wire goes, if it cranked over then I would know it was a switch or wiring fault, if not it would be the starter.

it was a faulty starter motor - got it replaced and now ok so thanks for your help.
