I recently acquired 2.0 T FSI Quattro Tiptronic, whilst I am very pleased with performance, through the gears the engine noise resmbles that of a diesel. Is this normal for the 2.0 T? Any ideas?

Yep, that's the way they sound. Had mine checked at Audi when I first got it (10 months ago) and was told that they all sound like that.

Just enjoy the performance (and keep the windows up and music on);)

yeah i think its becuase they are direct injection engines and the injectors are loud.

mine is fine while driving but if you lift the bonnect its a little bit ticky in sound a bit like tappets ?

but i like your self have been told by various people it is normal.

Mine's ticky and sounds like a diesel at idle, but you only hear it from outside the car, especially with the bonnet up. It sounds nothing like a diesel during accelleration. I think it sounds great from 2500-3000rpm, no reason to keep the windows up and music on. ;)
