Radio recepition

hi everyone

another quick question... my 99 passat is fitted with a Gamma head unit and it seems to suffer quite badly with poor radio recepition, could it be the ariel amplifier at fault and has anyone replaced one (do they simply plug in?)

its in the head unit itself afaik - when i put an aftermarket unit in my passat , i had to buy a signal booster off ebay . works a treat now.

I had quite poor reception on my passat and noticed a small split in the rubber at the base of the aerial, after replacing the aerial with new, the reception is far better.

A colleague was having a similar problem but worse reception and it was traced to a loose aerial connection on the rear of the radio itself, just pushed it in and it's been fine since.
