Earlier this year I succesfully replaced the standard Bosch Maf that was faulty with a pierburg one on my sister in laws Golf 1.9 TDi. What a difference it made, like a new car.

Now my brothers performance is down on his 2000 A6 Avant 2.5 TDi and the Maf is suspected. I believe it is the 150ish BHP engine.

I just need to know if the Pierburg Maf will work ok on this engine, I know it will work on the complete VAG 1.9 Tdi range, but not so sure about the 2.5 TDi.

The part number that I used on the Golf was a Pierburg7.22684.07.0 and I obtained it from ECP for a resonable price.

Any advice would be appreciated:)

I know, but he had one 14 months ago and has only done 10K and it has failed again, don't really trust the bosch one's anymore, that is why we wanted to go for a pierburg one.

They have proven to be alot more reliable than the Bosch and can in some cases's (VAG 1.9TDI, BMW 320D, 330D) can give a better acceleration curve and bring the turbo in earlier.

Guess if no one knows, will have to take the risk, they are only £40. If it dosen't work I can always sell it....

Pierburg dont make a MAF for the 150bhp '00' 2.5 A6 Avant.

They don't make one for the 1.9 TDI VAG or the BMW range either. They only officially make one for the Mercedes 220 & 320, but its works fine if not better than the bosch in the VAG & BMW engines.

Maybe I should have asked 'Is a 1.9 TDi Maf the same as a 2.5 TDi Maf'

Bosch quote lots of different part numbers for Maf's across the VAG 1.9 TDi range, but as far as I am aware they are interchangable as the Pierburg has so far being used on the following by users of this forum..

Bora 1.9 TDi 90
Golf 1.9 TDi 90
Golf GT TDi 130 PD
Seat Leon 1.9 TDi 130
Passat 1.9 TDi 110
Passat 1.9 TDI 130

And one Pierburg Maf (7.22684.07.0) has been used in all of these, with excellant results....

If you are interested you can always have a look through the following link, I think there are a few owners on there who are happy with the Pierburg, be warned though, the thread is 17 pages long!!!!

Sorry Ini, just read your post in that thread:Blush: ...

That list was exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, so I guess they are different....

I just assumed all VAG TDi used the same type.....

Better get a bosch one then
