Strange Clicking Noise???

Any help is much appreciated.Have just taken my 84 MK1 Golf GTi for a drive, the first time since Nov 09, however i have found a really strange clicking noise as if there is a stone in the tyre, have checked that and there is nothing, i have also had it on the jacks and spun the wheel and theres no clicking. The noise is there when i speed up and the clicking just gets faster. My thinking is outer CV, just wondered if anyone has had any experience with this problem.

It wasn't doing this when i put it away for the winter?

if you put it on full lock and pull away does it get worse?

Thanks for that I will check it out, it only seems to click as the wheel turns, i know that sounds daft, it seems one click per wheel rotation??

try doing full lock driving in a car park
if it clicks with revolution of the wheel to the right it will be right outer cv and left if turned left
