Hi there i am looking to remove the egr pipe between the exhaust and the EGR valve, and blank the two holes off with blanking plates.

A4 1.9TDI 1997 Engine AHU

The question i have is will this bring fault codes up on the ecu and will it trigger limp mode?

P.S. i will leave the EGR on the engine + plugged in.

Hey lordpleb :) i have the same engine in my mk3 golf and have blanked off my egr. With no faults or warning lights.

dan... did you make your own blanking plates? or did you buy them??
if you made them yourself, any chance of making me some at a price??

Yes i just made them myself out of a sheet of metal i found at work, and used a dremmal tool.
If you e-mail your address to dan_1907@hotmail.co.uk i will make you some hopefully tomorrow and aim to get them to you for monday (ish)
and as it only took me 10 mins, i will do them free of charge, just as long as you are aware they will be hand made and possibly not quite the same quality you might get from a shop (if you can even buy them anywhere?). But they'll do the job :)
Also is it an AHU engine? or similar?

No i brought some off of fleabay for about £10 including postage and then went to the *********** and got a gasket for each end (apparently you can reuse the old ones) then put some exhaust gasket sealer around both.

this is the one i brought:

Dealer ship apparently you cant put st ea le rship all one word

im not sure about improving as i was fixing the car at the time as the exhaust was severely blocked and there was a boost leak. LOL got to love cars....
