hi guys, i have VW Passat 2.0 petrol 53 reg. the yellow engine sign has come up on the dash , looking at the manual it states a lambda sensor problem , the car shows no sign of lack of performance but the light stays on all the time. is it safe to still drive , will it do any damage? is this a common fault with the lambda sensor with the Passat? its done 90k,
is their anyone in the Lancing/Worthing area that has a vag-com that can check for fault codes .

Had codes read , came up with code PO171 system too lean bank 1 . checked underbonnet found vacuum pipe had perished and had hole in it. also the plastic air inlet pipe from the air filter which is hidden under the plastic cowerling which seats on top of engine had also split. replaced vacuum pipe and did temp repair on plastic air inlet pipe . this is what caused the yellow engine light to come on
