i managed to fix the glovebox handle last night at work, ive modified it and made the brittle part out of metal to prevent further problems (the joys of being an engineer :biglaugh:)

but as good as the new catch actually opens the box, the glovebox lid doesnt fall open, you have to physically pull it down with quite a bit of force.

does this mean i need a new damper or is there a way of relubricating it?

is this common?

Very easy to remove.
Pull the pin holding it to the lid then rotate the damper to line up the slot

I did mine over a year ago and it is still as good as new, I used silicone grease that I bought from a plumbers merchant. (the type of grease you would use for assembling shower valves etc).
