expansion top up

Got an 03 plate passat tdi 130. Car has done 89k fvwsh. For about the last 4 weeks I keep having to top up the expansion resevoir with about 200 ml of fluid every 500 to 700 miles. Does any body else need to do this as i suspected gasket failure until my brother told me has to do the same to his golf gt tdi 115 00 x plate done 59k?:confused:

My 2001 103 never seems to like a drink.I've never had to top it up. Before you start worrying about gaskets make sure you check all the hoses (you prob have already) Then i'd have a good look at the water pump. I've spoke to several people who have had issues with these. It was recommened to me to replace it when i had the cambelt done. Let us know how ya get on

I had to top mine up a couple of months ago, but nothing since, I think this was discussed on tyresmoke forum a little while ago, do a search on there.

Hi,

Different car but similar sounding problem. When I had my audi A4 it kept using a little amount of water, finally tracked it down as a leak between the radiator core and the end cap. There was some staining on the black plastic end cap where it met the alloy radiator - might be worth checking.
