Hello and welcome. It may be advisable to use
http://www.r8talk.com/forums/index.php but to build the r8 section on here would be great as the other forum isn't free.
If you have any R8 queries please pm me as I'm a R8 licensed tech amongst other titles lol

Welcome to the forums

I am not sure I understand your question but I will have a go at explaining.

I am going to make the assumption that you have never used a forum before.(forgive me if I sound like I am patronising you)

a Forum is basically a discussion board. You start threads(conversations) about the subjects you want in the appropriate sections, then people respond(post) comments offering their own oppinions.

Adding pictures(which since you own an R8 is imperative) firstly you need to host them yourself on a website like Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/). Once you have them on there you can post the pictures in here using the [IMG] code that is given to you on Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/).

POST PICS :)

Thanks Scott,
I'm a real novice when it comes to technical stuff with computers but given time I will work out how to post a picture of my R8. I'm looking into Photobucket, but wonder why I can't just take a photo out of one of my folders and somehow drop it in at the end of a thread. No doubt there is a perfectly technical IT reason but hey, I'm a roofing contractor not an IT expert.
Bare with me, I will get my head around it in the not too distant future.
Oh! bye the way I didn't think you were patronising me, thanks for the sensiblle reply.
Cheers

It is my intention to introduce a few pics as soon as I sus out how to do it.
My knowledge of computers on a scale of 1 to 10 ranks around 2.
I can switch em on and off and I've learnt how to use the internet (just). Given time I promise you I wii have my R8 on this forum.
Cheers

Hi Chris,
Well she's a V8 4.2 FSI Coupe. in Ibis White, 19 inch alloys, black leather interior, carbon side fins in black, magnetic drive, 0 to 62 in 4.5 secs and an absolute dream to drive. I can't go anywhere without being stared at, photographed, thumbed up. Everyone appears to appreciate her beauty.
Ive been told by a mate who has a 911 that all he gets is w***r signs and shouts of abuse when he goes out. What can I say?
Cheers

If only there were some sort of guide to help you post up pictures, a walkthrough perhaps?

Yes, I can manage the 'press buttons and type stuff but placing photo's of the car is proving to be tricky, any tips?

yes

click the link above, it's a guide, on how to upload photographs to photobucket and then subsequently post links to those uploaded photographs, on the forum.

In case you can't click the link, for whatever reason, here's mycarsavw's handy guide

MYCARSAVW'S PHOTOBUCKET UPLOADING GUIDE

You have an image you'd like to include in your post but this image is saved on your computer. How do you get it online and into your post?

There are a lot of photo-hosting sites out there. Personally I use www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) because it is free, and fairly straight forward to use. You'll need to register there first of course.

Once registered, sign yourself in and you should see the following screen;

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v647/mycarsavw/upload.jpg

Click on the Browse... button and navigate your way to the picture on your hard drive. Here you can see me uploading the above image.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v647/mycarsavw/uploaded.jpg

Once you've done this, click on Upload and wait as your image is uploaded.

If you did it right, you should see this screen

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v647/mycarsavw/success.jpg

If you scroll down a little you'll see your image and beneath the image will be three method ways of showing the image location. This forum uses the last method, tags .

Right-Click on the IMG Code box to copy the URL and then paste (shift key + Insert on a PC) this URL into your new post.

Click Preview Post to make sure you have it right and you're done.

If you have any questions or suggestions let me know and I'll add or edit this post as appropriate.

Thanks for your details on how to post pics, tried what you said but still no joy. Got as far as right click on the img code box to copy the url (what's that by the way) and then paste. Then you go on to say (shift key + insert on a PC) this is where it went wrong, I couldnt go any further from here. Any suggestions?
Cheers

Got as far as right click on the img code box to copy the url

come back onto the forum, on a new post, paste that copied URL. you can do this by right clicking and pressing 'paste' or by pressing 'Ctrl & V' together.

alternatively, you can email me the pictures and I will upload them for you
