i have purchased a 1997 audi A6 1.8, drives superb but the heater does not blow out hot air , i flushed out the cooling system as best i could and added new antifreeze now the temperature gauge moves to about 90 degrees (did not move at all until the coolant flush) , the oil temp gauge does not rise above 60 degrees , the fans do not kick in either , HELP NEEDED !!!!!:zx11:

there is air coming from all the vents in the car , its the radiator fans that dont come on :1zhelp:

The rad fans are not associated to the heating. If there is air flow into the car then I suspect you have a failed are flap motor and you need a code read to confirm, although there is only one that it could be. PM your email address and I send you some details. Regards Peter

hi again cant pm you my e-mail as i dont have ten posts yet , i have followed on of the heater matrix hoses back behind the inlet manifold and there is a solid plastic tube which the hose should be attached to , mine's broke off , i was told that this is the thermostat housing could this have anything to do with the problem ??:1zhelp:

Please supply the engine code. For that year and model there is no stat associated to the heater, only the engine temp control stat. What has been done with the broken pipe. Regards Peter

hi its a ADR engine , 1.8 .4 cyl, the pipe is just hanging there no attached at all . Now know its not attached to the thermostat , so have'nt a clue hat its for ????:confused: also any ideas why the oil temp gauge not moving over 60 degrees

Has the pipe been plugged or what. Doies the water temp go up to 88/90 degrees. Regards Peter

Do you have A/C, manual operation or automatic, I am at a loss at which pipe you are referring to. Regards Peter

the water temp only goes up to 88/90 degrees when the car is stationary and soon as i move off drops right back down , the pipe just has a bit of the old plastic pipe in the end

Do you have A/C i.e. cooling as well or not.

Tell me more about this pipe. You are not answering my questions. Look back and address ALL the issues.

Can you locate the inlet and outlet pipe to the heater matrix through the bulkhead. Be specific. Regards Peter
