Hiya,

Found this forum a few weeks ago and picked up a load of useful stuff so far.....cheers all.

However I am currently having some difficulty with fitting an aftermarket stereo, I have followed this thread http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum//showthread.php?t=7709 (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum//showthread.php?t=7709) but have been unable to get the stereo to turn off with the ignition.

Setup:
VW Passat Estate '51reg 130TDI
Alpine Header unit
PC2-69-4 Wiring harness adaptor
PC5-52 Aerial Booster

With the header unit on I have disconnected the yellow (permanent live) and red (supposed ignition sense) bullet connectors individually and the unit shuts off (which makes sense). Have also tried connecting the red and yellow to the other colour just to check and makes no difference.

After ignition has been on, turned off and key removed the windows still operate until a door is opened (which I believe is correct?)

I am not willing to admit defeat (yet) and take the car to VW to get them to fit the stereo for an extortionate price, but they have told me that maybe there is something wrong with the ignition barrel that is not turning off the radio ignition sense properly. I can't remember properly but I think the radio turned off properly when I first installed it but shortly after remained on?

Any advise on testing or changing/replacing much appreciated,

Andy

On another note am thinking of getting a VAGCOM KEY-USB data cable from http://www.gendan.co.uk (http://www.gendan.co.uk/) would this show any faults with the ignition electrics?
