Hi, I've just got a quote for my 55-plate Golf Plus for a Service Plan:
Variable service (3rd) - £250
Brake fluid - £60
Air con - £59
-----------------------------
Total - £369 (payments spread over the next year, direct debit)

They throw in 2 free MOT's with this, but I wonder if this is really a good deal, bearing in mind I've just changed the brake fluid and the car is on long life oil so, in principle, next full service should be (up to) March 2011.

Any opinions much appreciated, thanks!

Considering you will be saving £70 in MOT costs (being £35 each) even though your Golf Plus is on long life serive it's a good deal. We always take out the VW Maintenance and Service plans (applies to brand new or used - less than one year old with less than 10k miles) on our cars which covers the all the servicing, maintence and costs of tyre replacement on all our cars up to four years.

Hi,
to me it doesn't sound that great, to be honest...
By March 2011 I should only need (fingers crossed!) :
- 1 full service = £250
- 1 MOT = 54
- (maybe) 1 Air con = 59
---------------------------------------------
total £363

They quoted me £369, so - unless I miss it somewhere - I do not really see the deal...

keeping with VW for the sake of warranty is the only potential reason here (but I could do that anytime and at any VW garage, and likely not costing me more)... maybe spreading the cost might entice somebody...

I can clearly see the deal for the garage (tying me in this contract) ... :approve:

Sorry I thought it was a two year plan as you mentioned you have two MOTs, by adding the cost of the second MOT (£54) takes your own expenses to £363+£54 = £417 so will you be making a saving of £48 (£417-£369). You can also tell them to change the brake fluid again in 2011 as it would have been changed in 2007, 2009, and due again in 2011 making an overall saving to you of £108. I still think you will be saving.
