Sharan load cover not retracting

I recently bought a '54 plate Sharan, complete with the load cover - however the cover doesn't retract :-(

My guess is that it's a relatively simple problem but I thought I'd ask if anyone has fixed one of these before I start stripping it down!

Hi - Just wondering if you got to the bottom of the problem. I'm looking at a similar issue:(

Nope - looks like it's just the two of us :-)

When I get time, I'll strip it down and have a poke around but
what with bathroom renovation and my wife's Polo playing up that could be a while yet...

looks like I could be making do without. I was assuming that there'd be some sort of coil spring device fitted to the end, but that doesn't bode well.

I tried ringing the dealers this afternoon and they don't seem to do a kit
