I love my car to pieces.... but it's becoming a work horse with me putting upto 1000 miles a week on her. The car just doesn't have the same feeling as when i first got it, almost as if the novelty has worn off.

For this reason i've been looking at "something for the weekend".... and really like the look of the evo VII. I've seen a few in the auto trader for around 12 / 13k.

Anyway, my brother thinks i should get a Scoobi, but it's justs not for me....

I know this is a VAG forum, but my question is what car do you prefer, (for that kinda money) the Evo or the Scoobi?

I prefer the scooby, in royal blue with the big rear wing, gold alloys.

I'd avoid the model with the circular head lamps as it makes it look boggle eyed and statrled.

Careful tho, thay tend to get thrashed.

Evo!

Far 2 many Scoob's on the road, plus, loads of boy racers have Scoob's yet not so many can afford an Evo.

If you were driving an Evo you wouldn't be worried by a Scoob yet if you were driving the Scoob you would be keeping an eye on the Evo if ya get wot i mean!!

Thats the exact reason i got the Bora over the Golf.... The golf is becoming a common car.... theres 1 on every street. There are more scoobies than evo's and from a bit of reading up, theres not too much that seperates them although the evo has the slight edge on the majority of the stats i've been looking at.

Still swaying towards the evo...

Evo but try and tone down the styling - Clarkson says they look like they've crashed through the front window of Halfords and he's right - but there's something about them that makes me just drool each time.

Lots has been said about their driveability. The newer ones have too much gadgetry which detracts from the ability to actually drive it.

Don't get an import and avoid a thrashed one (haha!)

Fiver says your first insurance will make you think again though - I looked when I was younger (21ish) and after four calls and four figure quotes (2.5k etc) I decided to look elsewhere.

One day though....

I've had a look into this already.... a colleague of mine drives a nissan skyline GTIR, and he insures it as a classic / sports car, (even thiough it's only 7 years old) The only downside is that your only allowed to drive it 6 months of the year as a maximum..... He also drives an L reg 1L corsa, lol

Wonder which 1 he prefers....

 Cripes if that's the price to pay, I think I'd get something less...

The evo all the way for me. Hundreds of scoobs around and IMO they are starting to become a bit chavvy. Lots of Evos around too but .... droooool. MUCH much nicer - something ultra hard and awesome about them.

Be close to any village high street and listen to those dump valves!!! lol

good decision, i agree about the chav/scooby thing, trouble with such cars becoming affordable is that you get chavs sat in them, thankfully, the very nature of the golf gti etc means they cant get insured ;)

Hi All,

Thought I would add my two pence worth.

I though the same as the OP. Something different, I chose the Scoob (55plate WRX, in Silver (not the ultra common sonic blue) with the Prodrive Performance pack factory fitted.

Now, I'm not a Chav (Not a single item of burbbery in sight here!!) or a Ned (in Scotland) and personally dont think there are many chavs that could afford a £15K car TBH.

As for the EVO yes it is good, but in terms of the car you are getting for your money and the :D for my money it was (and had to be the Scooby) every time.

Since picking it up three weeks ago I dont think I have stopped grinning everytime I drive it. I have never in 13 years of driving felt like that in any car.

So don't give up on the scoob just yet..........try one you may be surprised.

As for being common, at the end of the day when your limited to the available money of most of the population of the UK has as disposible income your never going to drive something that is Ultra rare are you?

Regards

Richard

EVO would be my choice. :)

My choice would be the Mondial QV pretty rare on the road to boot :D:D:D

Seriously buy the car you want. Dunt matter what anyone else thinks. It has to put the smile on your face not your mates.

That was why I bought a Ferrari and not an EVO or Scooby or any other much faster car. Love these Jap cars and the Scooby in particular, but they do not make me smile anything like the Ferrari. Bolox to everyone else be different ;) Buy a Porsche 911 perhaps.

£10250 is a good price for a Mondy. Mine was quite a bit more than that two and a half years ago mind. You do need to have them professionally checked.

One last thing, pictures never do any Ferrari justice. The justice is in the drive, sound, smell and experience in the metal ;)

EVO or stfu

Depends on how much you can afford with the service intervals. I seem to recall the EVO needs TLC every 3000 miles !!!

Evo or Scoob?

I choose Skyline. My mate has an R32 with 650bhp.

it
is
*******
crazy

but absolutely brilliant - really makes you feel alive.

if it were a straight choice between the Evo and Scoob I'd get the Evo - it's the better car.

But, if I were looking for a Scoob - I'd get the Forrester (the turbo WRX one).

Man that thing is soo ugly but when it goes like it does it's cooooool.

I like both, but they are very different, the Scooby is more of an every every day car and the evo is a slightly toned down rally car and with service intervals of 4000 miles you don;t want to be using it evry a day.

The styling is irelevent as your sitting inside grinning!!

you could get an older scooby for less than £5k and prepare it for hilclimbs or track use;)

My last car was an evo 5 which i had for just over 2 years and used as my everyday car.
The running costs are quite horrific!!
Service every 4.5k miles £200
New clutch £1300
Brake disks £200 each (£800)
Brake pads £200 front & £200 rear (£400 plus fitting)
45,000 service £7-800)
New AYC pump £2200
(all mitsubishi dealer prices. cheaper if you go to a specialist)
15-20 mpg!! way less if you've got a heavy foot. (book says 23mpg but it lies)
I was paying nearly £1400 to insure mine in Northern Ireland. 34 with full ncb.

The Scooby isn't much cheaper but they are much more common ;)

If it's just for the weekend think about the RS versions or one of the older evo's (equally as fast but more economical to run (slightly :) ))

EVO all the way my friend.

Yes they are a little more on the up keep, but lets face it arent all rally cars:D :D

I personally would get a V, i think it loks like its come straight from the WRC, with the money you save tune her up!!!:biglaugh:

but its all down to personal pref, but i agree with the majority, scoobies are far too comon now.
