Hi, guys i have just purchased a mk4 golf gti tdi 150. I have been considering getting the engine remapped. But i am not really up with the knowledge of what happens and stuff. I have done a lot of searching on the net but not really sure who is best to go with and who offers what.

Is there anyone that has had a remap done on this same car? and can give me any advice of what i need to do or what company to go with.

Also what am i looking at for potential performance increases.

cheers guys...

Its quite straight forward really..Remapping your car just provides the car's computer with an uprated set of instructions when in motion...Ie it wil increase the boost pressure, inject a bit more fuel into the engine, allow you to stretch the engine up to about 5k rpm

From what I know, you should be able to pull about 185bhp from your car making it feel alot faster..and alot more torqey..you'll probably knock about 1 sec off ur 0-60 times as well..

Fuel consumption wise, they'll all tell u ur mpg will go up, because you wont have to shift down on hills etc..but thats crap..cause you'll end up gunning it every 2 minutes wasting more fuel..

However its totally worth it..honestly, i did it to my golf mk3 tdi with 140k on the clock and its a quick car now..

It costs between 250-500 quid..takes about 2 hours, and involves a guy coming around with a laptop and some equipment, removing your current chip, flashing it, and dumping a new map on it.

I did it with a company called Upsolute. Their main man over here is Simon Coe. Phone him up, have a chat, and he'll be with you within 3-5 days sorting it out. He charges 265 pounds.

6 months later..my car is in A 0k condition and just stormed past its MOT.

Tell us how it goes

Well actually the 150 should be good for 200BHP. I have longer term plans to take my 130 up to 185 (on Biodiesel!), but need to save first. A rolling road setup would be the best option for the PD engines. The 150 has the strongest engine components of all the 1.9 engines.

190 to 200bhp is fine on these.

No need to remove chip just Flash chip via OBD port. Takes around an hour or so and looking at £300

as for which company to go with there are loads and loads out there. You need to do some searching in your area
