vw making me wait 3 weeks for part!!!

Hi there i had a problem with my car misfiring and generally running poorly.I changed the maf but that had no effect.Took it to my local dealers who diagnosed the problem to be with the ignition control unit. I have been waiting for the part for 3 weeks now and every time i call the dealer i am told that its on backorder with the manufacturers in germany and they can tell me how long it will be.
Does anyone know how i can persue this with vw as ive been without my car far too long now.

If the item is on Back order with VW in Germany, then the dealer may not be able to find out a delivery date for you :( you could try giving VW customer care a call in Milton Keynes, and see if they can help.
