I have a 96 A4 1.8T and recently the oil temp and coolant temp guages have both stopped working completely. I cannot see a fuse for this in the manual and presumably the coolant temp sender has nothing to do with the oil circuit so it cant be that. I am a bit bemused because it also has nothing to do with the thermostat (which was changed at the last service a few months back).
The car still seems to operate at normal temp, its not using any more fuel nor overheating and the heating in the car still operates at the normal temperatures i.e blows hot or cold if needed so it cant be a coolant loss.
I can only assume the instrument cluster has failed somewhere but i would appreciate of anyone esle has seen this and if there is a repair that doesnt involve pulling the dash to bits!
