Hi,
I need some coolant to top up; could anyone suggest a source for the VW coolant additive G12 (purple VW774F) please?

Halfords have an Advanced Antifreze (5l for £20.99) (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_21 9452_langId_-1_categoryId_229902), but I am not too sure if it's a god idea to mix it with the existing coolant (light purple/reddish).

Any advice greatly appreciated,
thanks for your time,

Try a VW dealer!!

Really depends on how much/how often you need to top up. In the long run (if you are planning on keeping the car) it will probably be best to use what the manufacturer recommends.

You know it makes sense;)

I would also use the VW supplied G12. It only costs about £8 a bottle - cheap for peace of mind.
If your car has a plastic impeller coolant pump some antifreeze mixtures can react with the type of plastic used and the pump fails. If it has a metal coolant pump this won't be a problem, but it can also react with the alloy castings that VW use and cause eventual blockage of the radiator etc.
It'll be the safest £8 you can spend.
