Hi Daniel, Is the Octavia an sdi? I have done the belt on my wifes polo diesel which is basically the same I would have thought, on 3 or 4 occassions. It is fairly straight forward. There is a plug on the top of the gearbox which reveals the zero mark on the flywheel ( you will need a torch) If you take off the rocker cover, the end of the cam away from the belt has a slot in it which you can stick a piece of flat metal plate in to keep the cam in position and the injector pump has a hole in its sprocket which lines up with a hole in the casting behind. I normally use a long reach socket in this from memory. It normally takes me about 3 to 4 hours on a Saturday with frequent coffee breaks! Hope this helps! Good luck!
