Hi, I have a CC GT170, in silver with RNS510, I believe now that its a 2010 vehicle as the 1oth character in the VIN no. is an A. I would like to know what make type and size of SDHC cards people are using, as I tried one from my daughters camera after formatting it with FAT32 and got a disc error in the RNS 510, it works fine in my laptop and in my daughters camera. It was a sandisk extreme III (Class 6). Before I splash out to try a different card please let me know what yo have had success with. Thanks.

Model year doesnt mean your RNS is SDHC compatible, it might have been built very close to the changeover period and have a slightly oder unit it. You need to check the firmware level of your RNS - it might need updating to enable SDHC support.

I've had 4 or 5 different SDHC cards in mine and all worked fine.

How can I tell what firmware I have and which one should I have to use sdhc cards?

Unless your RNS has the hidden menu enabled (hold setup for 15 seconds to see if it comes up) you will need VAG-COM to read the firmware level.

You need 266x or higher for the proper SDHC support I believe.

Isaac, thanks for that, looked at some which are class 6 but only appear to be 133x. What brands/ types are you and everyone else using successfully?

MIne are Sandisk ones but I have a couple of 'no-name' cards with success as well. Upto 32GB work fine in my RNS.

You really need to confirm your RNS firmware level though, you can update it easily enough if required.

I'm using a PNY Optima 16Gb Class 4.
Works okay but now that I have more than 11Gb on it, startup and accessing the folders is becoming sluggish. Might need to trim some of the rubbish off.
I got it off Amazon for about £30, picked it less for the price/speed and more because it was black. Makes it less noticable in the head unit you see.

I'm using a 16GB Sandisk Class6 that I got on one of the eBay shops for £25! Bargain.. Works a treat to, altho initial start up is a little slow (prob about 1min) as I have nearly filled the SDHC with music!! haha...

The bigger the card the longer the read time folks, better off using several 4 gig cards, also class 2 is probably the best compatible card, new tech, old gear never seems to work very well.

Just bought a 32gb from ebay for £27... But this is going in my camcorder!
Although have to agree with the above statement - my 16GB card does take about 1min to get access, which is a little frustrating!
