2007 Alhambra both rear / tailgate lights not working

I have a 2007 1.9TDI Seat alhambra and it has been trouble free so far:o

Now I have a small problem - both the rear lights are not working.

Any ideas and bear in mind my mechanical skills are in the minus scale !!

The usual reason is broken wires in the rubber conduit from the body to the tailgate, rather fiddly to repair reliably.
